IPL

feather faceTo treat: Reduces excess hair, pigmentation, spider veins, rosacea and fine lines.

What is IPL? IPL is also known as Photo Rejuvenation. It delivers intense bursts of red or blue light directly to the skin.

What is IPL used to treat? IPL can be used to treat many skin conditions and improve the overall condition of the skin by smoothing the skin texture and reducing fine lines. It can also be used cosmetically for hair reduction, to improve rosacea, remove spider veins and fade pigmentation.

Is the treatment painful? IPL treatment can cause discomfort, although most people find it quite tolerable. It is often likened to ‘being flicked with a rubber band’. If you would like to reduce some of the discomfort associated with the treatment, take two paracetamol approximately one hour before the procedure.

How long does it take to work and how long will it last? The treatment session takes about 30-45 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. Results are not instant. As the skin begins to replenish itself over the following 4-6 weeks you will notice improvement. Pigmentation and age spots darken between 7-10 days after treatment and gradually flake off, revealing a more even-toned complexion underneath. Some people see significant improvement after just one treatment, while others require further sessions (between 2 and 5) – it simply depends on the condition of your skin.
